About Beck

I am a clinically trained social worker with a trauma-informed and psychodynamic relational foundation, integrating approaches from narrative therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), attachment theory, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), and EMDR. My work focuses on identifying the patterns and dynamics that shape how people view themselves, their emotions, and their relationships. I believe that how individuals face challenges shapes and is deeply shaped by how they perceive themselves and others, and that lots of meaningful change is possible within the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and the world (even in light of the real, multifaceted and layered social and political/politicized stressors we all face). With collaboration, compassion, warmth, and practical skill-building, I help clients cultivate the flexibility and radical acceptance needed for meaningful change.

I view the therapeutic relationship as a rock tumbler—a space that has potential to smooth rough edges while revealing depth and beauty... and believe there is also power in the rawness of unpolished edges.

I received an MSW from Smith College School for Social Work, and have more than a decade of clinical experience. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health, attachment theory, and trauma. At this time I primarily focus on supporting folks with:

  • relationship challenges (including romantic relationships of all structures, parenting, and family of origin relationships)

  • concerns in relationship with self (including identity related concerns, body image and self-loss with role transitions) that contributes to mood and anxiety concerns

  • trauma processing (including complex trauma, childhood trauma, infidelity trauma, and single-event traumas) and

  • issues related to family-building and other significant life transitions (including infertility, perinatal loss and abortion, caregiver issues, grief and loss, chronic health concerns and disability, and adjustment to parenthood).

My past clinical work has been in outpatient, residential, and healthcare settings, with individuals of all ages. Some of my favorite past roles were milieu based therapy with youth who were unable to safely live at home, preschool consultation to early childhood educators, and multidisciplinary team work with a gender affirming care medical team. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in training for health education and as the development director for a non-profit focused on youth empowerment. I founded Burnish Wellness in 2025 after spending four years in part-time solo private practice while also working for a mental health startup, and I look forward to growing the practice in the coming years.

I am white, queer, nonbinary, a single parent of a preschooler, live with chronic illness, and am active in community work adjacent to disability justice and mutual aid outside of my clinical work. I hold deep values related to social justice, including anti-racist and anti-carceral practice, reproductive justice and disability justice. I have/have had the privilege of supporting many transgender and gender non-conforming clients, and work with other queer and trans folks is one of my favorite parts of my practice. Outside of therapy, you can find me writing, drawing comics, sewing, cooking (but very rarely baking), spending time in nature, and making things.

I currently reside on unceded Nipmuc, Agawam, and Pocumtuc land in Western Massachusetts with my child and two orange cats.
